PHYLLIS PALMIERO

Vice President for Finance & Administration, Collegiate School

Ms. Palmiero is the Vice President for Finance & Administration and Treasurer at The Collegiate School, a JK-12 co-ed independent day school of more than 1,650 students in Richmond, Virginia. In this role, Ms. Palmiero is responsible for the School’s budget and financial management, investments, business services, facilities management, human resources, construction, campus safety & security, and the School’s auxiliary services.  Prior to her work at Collegiate, Ms. Palmiero spent three years as Director, Institute for Effective Governance in Washington, D.C. where she worked with college and university trustees on governance issues in higher education.  Ms. Palmiero also spent five years as the Executive Director of the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV), the coordinating body for Virginia higher education.  At SCHEV, she provided financial and policy leadership and coordination of Virginia’s 15 public four-year colleges and universities, one junior public college, 23 community colleges of the Virginia Community College System and more than 100 private and out-of-state institutions. Before her work in Virginia, Ms. Palmiero was an Associate at Salomon Brothers Inc., a Wall Street investment banking firm in New York City. Ms. Palmiero has a BA in Economics from Fordham University and an MBA in Finance from Fordham University’s Graduate School of Business.
